One of the many reasons my wife and I chose Potosi Lake
Village to live is that it is a private community. The village is open only to
property owners and their guests. Unfortunately at the moment it seems to be open to anyone who wishes to enter. The things
which we as owners pay for such as swimming, fishing, roads, etc. or open to the public. I live just up from the beach and
notice a lot of traffic that I am sure does not live in our community. We pay yearly fees for the upkeep of the resources
our community offers. Our roads, the lake, the stocking of the lake with fish, all this and more we pay for with our yearly
fees. Allowing those outside our community to use our resources raises our upkeep and forces us to pay out more than we should.
This is not my major concern. Security of our property is the main concern. Many of the owners
in our village do not live here. This is known throughout the area. Besides our resources being utilized by others the safety
of our property is at risk.
I am proposing that we install a barrier arm
entry system at the entrance to our community (similar to the one shown below). Entry by owners would be with a remote control
much like a the keyless entry on an automobile. The opener shown below is similar to the ones I have been looking at. Small
and convenient it would open the gate from 250 to 500 ft. depending on which we would choose. An underground sensor would
open the gate automatically when exiting. Guest would gain entry through a touch tone telephone system. Each owner would be
assigned a three digit code that would be displayed on a keypad system (similar to one shown below). A display on the keypad
would list owners name and the code assigned. Guest or delivery people, etc. would then dial this code which would relay to
owners phone. If the owner wishes to grant entry a simple code, *1 for example, would be entered on the phone that would open
the gates from the comfort of your home. Specific systems would be in place for emergency vehicles such as police, fire department,
ambulances, etc. so they would have unrestricted access to the village.

This system would cost between
$7500 and $10,000 depending on our requirements. This is a small price to pay, less than $100 per owner, to protect our homes,
our privacy and our resources.
I would like the input from the owners before
pursuing this matter any further. Please e-mail me with your comments from the contact us page.
Thank you.
